ARTA HSV-010 secured a 3rd win for Honda in the Autobacs Super GT 2010 Series, despite a collision with a backmarker earlier in the race.

The ARTA HSV-010 secured its 1st pole position in 2010.

Takashi Kobayashi made a sensational Super GT debut after he clinched pole position in the GT500 Class at the wheel of the ARTA HSV-010. The All Japan F3 driver’s time of 1’55.237 was faster than what his teammate Ralph Firman and Yuji Ide managed to set earlier, and is even more impressive considering the limited amount of time he has to acclimatise with the Honda HSV-010.

The battle for the championship hots up in the GT500 Class with only 3 rounds left for the Autobacs Super GT 2010 Series. After the thrilling race at the Sugo Circuit, the series will head to Suzuka for the 2nd time this year on the 21st – 22nd of August for the 6th round of the championship.

A series of collisions and spinouts disrupted the early stages of the race. Out in front, however, the pole-starting No.23 MOTUL AUTECH GT-R (Benoit Treluyer) was running away at a high pace unmatched by any other machine on the track. By lap six, Treluyer had already recorded the fastest lap of the race at 1 min. 17.691 sec. and enjoyed a more than 10-sec. safety margin over the pack when he brought the car back to the pit on lap 50 and turned over the wheel to Satoshi Motoyama. Motoyama also managed to keep a safe margin of lead as his stint wore on. Car No. 23 had scored the fastest laps in every session run in this race weekend’s practice and qualifying, and it looked to be on its way to a runaway victory in the race too. But then disaster struck and car No. 23 suddenly slowed on the final turn of lap number 74, coming to a halt on the in side of the track. The trouble was an electrical system failure and the car was able to return to the race after turning on the switch again, but the time loss had dropped it back to 6th place.

Benoit Treluyer was the class of the field in the Super Lap session.

After struggling for the whole the year, finally the Nismo backed MOTUL AUTECH GT-R managed to secure pole position in the 5th Round of the championship at Sugo. Benoit Treluyer lapped the circuit with the fastest time of 1’16.178 in the final Super Lap session. The RAYBRIG HSV-010, driven by Takuya Izawa took 2nd with a time of 1’16.622 ahead of the MJ KRAFT SC430 in 3rd.
