Petronas Syntium Team scored yet another pole position ahead of this week’s Super Taikyu Round 3 500km Race at the Suzuka Circuit, Japan. Driving in a BMW Z4, the pole achieved by non other than the favourite combo of Nobuteru Taniguchi, Masataka Yanagida and Malaysian Imran Shaharom in car no.1. Followed closely behind were another Petronas sister car, the BMW Z4 no.28 driven by Kataoka Tatsuya, Farique Hairuman and Melvin Moh.

Jorge Lorenzo stormed clear of Valentino Rossi to take his second win in a row in Le Mans yesterday afternoon, making it a successive win for him and three victories from three races for the Fiat Yamaha Team this year. Rossi overcame a few problems with both his bike and his shoulder to finish second, with Italian Andrea Dovizioso third.

Japanese rally driver Toshi Arai (above) won his home rally at Hokkaido yesterday, finishing ahead of his illustrious APRC rivals. Compatriot Katsu Taguchi of MRF Tyres finished the rally in second place, but was 1st under APRC classification. He was followed by Cusco Racing’s Hiroshi Yanagisawa and Indian teammate Gaurav Gill. This makes it two 1st place out of two for Taguchi in Asia Pacific Rally Championship 2010, after winning the Malaysian Rally back in April.

German Christian Menzel celebrated a clean sweep of the points at the Beijing Goldenport International Circuit yesterday when he won round 3 and 4 of Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2010. The Team StarChase reigning champion has won all four races of 2010 season so far, giving him a strong lead at the top of the overall standings.

Reigning World Champion Valentino Rossi took the 59th pole position of his career and his first of the season yesterday with an authoritative performance in sunny Le Mans. His team-mate Jorge Lorenzo was just five hundredths of a second off his time, as the Fiat Yamaha pair put up a commanding display ahead of today’s French Grand Prix.  It was the seventh Fiat Yamaha one-two qualification in Rossi-Lorenzo era.

The third Grand Prix of the season got underway in France this afternoon and Valentino Rossi started the weekend in strong form by finishing the first practice on top of the standings. His team-mate and last year’s race winner Jorge Lorenzo finished third on an unusually sunny day at the famous Le Mans 24-Hour track.

Formula BMW Pacific continues on Sunday, with guest drivers from Team Eurointernational continues to dominate the race weekend. Danill Kyvat got his second victory as he romped away from pole position all the way to chequered flag in Race 3. This time he was pushed right from the start by his teammate Michael Lewis, but ultimately Kyvat defended his position well and denied Lewis any room to overtake. They crossed the line very close, only 0.439 second separating them.
