Without defending champion Valentino Rossi, there seems to be no real threat for Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo as he continues to strengthen his grip on the world championship leaderboard. On Saturday the Spaniard took an impressive third straight pole at his home track of Montmeló, the championship leader stormed to his 12th MotoGP pole with an impressive lap that was 0.364 seconds faster than Casey Stoner in second. Randy de Puniet completed the front row on 3rd spot.

Jorge Lorenzo stamped his mark yet again in MotoGP, winning the Dutch TT at Assen. Leaving his rivals trailing, he led from pole to the chequered flag in the 80th Dutch TT, his fourth victory of the season. Lorenzo also becomes only the seventh rider in history to have won in three or more classes at the historic racetrack, with 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP wins to his name.

MotoGP teams have set up camp in the Assen paddock for the second race in a tough mid-season schedule as they prepare for the Dutch TT. The race is traditionally held on the final Saturday of June, and this year’s event is in a run of five races in six weekends for the MotoGP circus which started in England at Silverstone before culminating at Laguna Seca in America at the end of July.

Yamaha Motor Racing is pleased to announce that Wataru Yoshikawa, their experienced Japanese test rider, will join the Fiat Yamaha Team from the Barcelona round of the MotoGP World Championship. The two-time Japanese Superbike Champion will ride in the place of the injured Valentino Rossi, with Rossi’s team and the YZR-M1, until the Italian is back to full fitness following his broken leg.It is expected that Yoshikawa will be with the Fiat Yamaha Team for at least three races, after which more should be known about Rossi’s expected return date.

Plenty of drama took place during Super GT Round 4 at the Sepang International Circuit, which ultimately won by the CALSONIC IMPUL GT-R. This marks the 3rd straight year running that Nissan GT-R dominates the Malaysian Super GT weekend and won at the 5.543km circuit.
