‘Masaaki Kitagawa’

The Lexus SC430 is clearly the fastest car at Fuji in the GT500 Class, and probably the fastest car in the 2010 championship, as they have clearly demonstrated earlier in the Saturday qualifying session with a 1-2-3 position on the starting grid. What’s more impressive is the manner they did it, with a weight handicap more than their closest rivals in the championship. While the weight handicap clearly hampered the speed of the leading GTRs and HSV-010s, the Lexus SC430 of MJ KRAFT, PETRONAS TOM’S, and ENEOS dominated the Fuji 400km with an impressive display by sweeping all the podium places and the ZENT CERUMO completed a perfect weekend for Lexus by finishing 4th.

It is a Lexus 1-2-3-4 at Fuji, with the MJ KRAFT SC430 of Hiroaki Ishiura and Kazuya Oshima ahead of the PETRONAS TOM’S SC430, the ENEOS SC430 and the ZENT CERUMO SC430 in the GT500 Class.

Lexus secured a 1-2-3 position in the GT500 Class after the qualifying session for the 3rd Round of the Autobacs Super GT 2010 Series ended at the Fuji International Speedway. On pole is the MJ KRAFT SC430 (above) of Hiroaki Ishiura and Kazuya Oshima, joined by the PETRONAS TOM’S SC430 of Juichi Wakisaka and Andre Lotterer on the front row. The most impressive performance was from the ENEOS SC430, the leader in the driver’s point ranking. Although with a 42 kg handicap, 28 kg more than pole position winner and 4 kg more than 2nd place PETRONAS TOM’S SC430, the driver pairing of Daisuke Ito and Bjorn Wirdheim managed to secure third spot on the grid.

The Autobacs Super GT Series heads to the Fuji International Speedway on the 1st of May 2010 for the 3rd round of the championship. The Fuji International Speedway is famous for its 1.5 km long straights, one of the longest straight in any racing circuits, while Mount Fuji provided one of the most beautiful scenery in the background.

Dome is a well known name in Japan, they have deep rooted history in motor racing tracing all the way back from 1975 which is the day it was formed in Takaragaike, Kyoto, Japan. Dome at one time almost made it to Formula One in 1997. However due to lack of sponsorship and Mugen’s refusal to supply engines, the dream never materialize. By 1999, Honda’s involvement with British American Racing spells an end to Dome’s aspiration of competing at the highest echelons of motor racing.
