‘International Events’

With GT3 Asia now in its second year after it has evolved from Supercar Club Hong Kong (SCCHK), I have just learnt today that we will have a new series called GT4 Asia Cup this season. From my research the series was introduced to cater for teams and drivers in Asian region who wanted a close and professional series that is affordable. Now together with PCCA, GT3 Asia and GT4 Asia Cup formed part of the Asian Festival Of Speed. For petrol-head like us at RaceRevo this year looks pretty exciting for GT racing in Asia. Today is their Pre Season Test Day and I was there to check out what’s in store for you guys the Petrol-heads. Together with Nazim and Anas, I head out to Sepang early in the morning to catch the action on track. It was raining all the way to Sepang. When it rains, there are two things that made us grins from ear to ear. Number one, opportunity for dramatic images and number two we are saved from scorching hot Malaysian weather.

Our traffic analysis shows that people who visited us were quite keen on our karting content. So I’ve decided rather than keep all these eye candies rotting in my hard drive, might as well I share it with you guys. I know this has been a bit overdue, but better late than never. As the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia revs up for its eighth season, the record field of  23 drivers and their new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars are raring to go. The curtain will rise on the 11-round season next week, with Round 1 & 2 held as part of the 2010 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix weekend in Shanghai.

Opening round of Super Taikyu Endurace Series 2010 (STES10) saw PETRONAS Syntium Team started with a bang registering a superb 1-2 finish. The team’s car no 1 BMW Z4 Coupe driven by Nobuteru Taniguchi, Masataka Yanagida and debutant Imran Zaharias Shaharom took the checkered flag ahead of Tatsuya Kataoka, Fariqe Hairuman and another rookie Melvin Moh in the team’s sister car no 28.

Sepang International Circuit hosted the 3rd round of the 2008 A1 Grand Prix season. With a five point lead over A1 Team Ireland, A1 Team Malaysian is no doubt hoping to capitalize on its momentum and do something nobody has yet to achieve in A1GP – winning a race on their own home soil! While Malaysian favorites Alex Yoong and Fairuz Fauzy have led their nation to a total of five A1GP victories, a top-three finish at Sepang has currently eluded the squad despite the team’s competitiveness throughout the previous three seasons of A1GP competition.
