GT3 Asia Race 1 – Sprint Race Brief Results

Dark clouds were seen above the Sepang International Circuit before the start of the GT3 Asia Race 1, and threats of rain were looming. Luckily, the dark clouds moved away from the circuit and it was a dry race until the end.

Mok Weng Sun from Team Porsche Club Singapore (PCS) led from the start, and simply ran away from the chasing pack. None of the the competitors were able to live with the pace of Mok Weng Sun’s Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S, and by the end of Lap 2 it was apparent that barring any major incident, the win is just a formality.

Michael Choi (above) from Team SPS Racing finished in 2nd place ahead of Dilantha Malagamuwa of Dilango Racing Sri Lanka.

Race 2 will continue on Sunday, with Mok Weng Sun as the favourite to complete the double. Can the Lamborghinis, the Ferraris or maybe the Ginettas stop Mok’s dominance so far? Stay tuned for Sunday’s coverage of the event. Full race report and photos coming up from the Grand Race!
