APRC Round 1 – Day 2 Morning Session

APRC Malaysian round continues on the second and last day with Alister McRae winning stage 9, just beating Katsu Taguchi by 2 seconds. But it turns out to be a disastrous day for McRae after his Satria Neo S2000 engine broke down in stage 11 caused by a damaged radiator. It’s now solely up to Chris Atkinson to get a result for the PROTON R3 Malaysia Rally Team.

By now the fight for the win is between Team MRF Tyres duo Taguchi and Gaurav Gill of India. Both of them drove very well and matched each others time.

Taguchi took stage 12 win to overtake the overall standing from McRae, 1 minutes and 15 seconds ahead of Gill, who meanwhile increased his stage wins to a total of 4 when he won stage 10.

Veteran Karamjit Singh is still not finished and proved he is still one of Asia’s best rally driver when he won stage 11 with a sicken Evo VIII, even though he is out of contention for the overall winner when his car broke down on Saturday.

Racerevo will be there at the finish line, stay tuned for more!
